Ascension First Choice DRUJ System

Introduction

The Ascension® First Choice® DRUJ System was developed through the international collaboration of several world-renowned extremity surgeons.
Design surgeons included Drs. Philippe Kopylov and Magnus Tagil from Lund, Sweden, Dr. Brian Adams from Iowa City, Iowa, Dr. Robert Beckenbaugh from Rochester, Minnesota, and Professor John Stanley from Wigan, England. These prominent surgeons all shared in the desire to bring an innovative DRUJ system to the market that encompassed reproducibility, ease of use, and greatest flexibility.

 

The Ascension® First Choice® DRUJ System consists of a partial resurfacing implant, that maintains the native attachments of the TFCC to the ulna, and a total ulnar head replacement. The system provides the first implant that minimizes bone resection and provides a primary solution for DRUJ arthritis.

Indications

The First Choice® Partial Resurfacing Implant comes in four head sizes and three stem sizes, providing intra-operative flexibility to address patient anatomy.

The First Choice® Modular Ulnar Head (MUH) is designed to replace the distal ulnar head and to restore distal radioulnar joint function (DRUJ). Featuring a cobalt chrome alloy head with a titanium stem, the First Choice® MUH comes in three head sizes and nine stem sizes, providing the best fit intra-operatively to address patient anatomy.
